Approved Prior Learning (´APL´) and Approved Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (´APEL´) are increasingly common.
If a course provider offers APL, it means that a student´s existing qualifications may give him or her credits on the course, or even exemption from part of it.
If a course provider offers APEL, it means that a student´s relevant work experience may give him or her credits on the course, or even exemption from part of it.
APL and (to a lesser extent) APEL are being offered increasingly more for many longer courses, especially those run by universities and colleges. Therefore before signing up for any course we recommend you check with the course providers whether or not they offer APL or APEL.
