Two New Practice-Orientated Legal Qualifications Offered in Partnership with Cambridge University

 

Cambridge University, in partnership with the Institute, has created two new qualifications:

- the Cambridge University Certificate in Legal Practice

- the Cambridge Univerity Certificate in Legal Studies

Both have been designed especially for non-lawyers working in, and with, the law. As well as providing excellent practical teaching on key topics, the courses lead to legal qualifications from one of the top five universities in the world.

Both qualifications are practice-orientated and created in partnership with the Institute. Fast-track Institute membership, potentially leading to Fellowship and Certified Paralegal status, is offered to students.

 

Both courses are delivered online, supported by several intensive teaching days (held at weekends) in a Cambridge college. The online components are fully interactive and tutor support is provided.

There is open access to both courses.

With a distinctly practical flavour, the courses were designed by Cambridge and the Institute to assist:

 

Cambridge University Certificate in Legal Practice

The Certificate consists of eight mandatory modules.

Students who successfully complete modules one through four may apply for the Certificate of Continuing Education in Legal Practice for Paralegals.

Students who then go on to complete the remaining four modules (within a five-year time limit) receive the Certificate in Legal Practice.

Individual modules can be taken as stand-alone courses.

The modules are:

- Introduction to Legal Research and Writing
- Paralegal Advisory Firms and Paralegal Practice
- Contract Drafting and Interpretation for Practitioners
- Introduction to the City, Financial Services and Companies House
- Practical Skills for Paralegals
- Conduct of Proceedings for Paralegals

Cambridge University Certificate in Legal Studies

This Certificate is offered on a credit basis. You chose from amongst the 17 modules on offer to reach the required number of credits to achieve.
