The Need for Specialist Legal Support Qualifications

Creation of the LPQ suite of qualifications reflects the rapidly change world of legal support:

- Traditional roles are rapidly changing, becoming more complex and sophisticated. An ever greater degree of professional is required in return for expanding

  responsibility and greater authority;

- New roles are being created as part of the development of legal services beyond their traditional boundaries. Many of these roles are senior but new.

The exisiting qualifications structure does not adequately address these changes, nor the need for legal support staff to have access to recognised training at all stages of their careers.  The LPQ™ suite of awards are designed to rectify these problems.

Who Issues LPQ Qualifications?

Government recognised LPQ qualifications are issued by IAM, the government-appointed national awarding body.  Other LPQ awards are issued by the Institute.

Who Runs Courses leading to an LPQ Qualification?

Any employer or training provider can apply to IAM to run a course leding to an LPQ qualification.  The Institute will not be involved unless an employer wants the Institute to issue a non-government recognised LPQ qualification.
